Just back. was created by Judy
from attending a first of 6 pathways to work interview. The woman was quite snotty at first, demanding why my daughter was claiming ESA and not JSA, even though she knew the history, it was there on her pc!
So I had to go into detail why she was claiming ESA I felt like she was going to snatch the ESA back and dump her on to JSA. Anyway after the interview she softened up quite alot and was more helpful. Can they do that? end your ESA on just one meeting? I don't think she will but you never can tell can you?

Hi Judy
I can assure you that JCP advisers do not have the power to stop a claimants benefit. Only the Decision Maker can do that.
From my experience and many other peoples experiences, your first pathways to work interview with JCP is a complete nightmare. However the following interviews are usually with a private sector company and more relaxed. I had my interviews deferred for three months.
See the B&W news article about 'creaming and parking'. I don't know if they are still doing it, but clearly a private sector company paid on results will have less to gain by trying to force people not ready for work, back in to work.
Best wishes
Derek

Ah that makes more sense now, thank you Derek. The power just goes to their heads doesn't it.

Hi Judy,
My 1st pathways interview at the Jobcentre was harrowing, I cried all the way through it and really upset the Jobcentre lady! I was grieving over the job I had just had to give up at the time. Subsequent interviews were with a contracted company, really liked the interviewer, he was very gentle and respectful, no stress at all. Don't worry about it, it will be fine.

Thank you. I was told that the next interviews would be with a contracted company.
