dwp say no was created by wilton
anyone help.finished 60%of dla form which has to be back by 10th nov.waiting for cab home visit to help complete.cab told me to phone dwp and ask for return date to be extended as i still dont have an appointment date for visit of cab.dwp said no just send form as it is with note stating waiting for further assistance from cab.does this sound right

Hi ginger,

If this is a fresh claim then, if you return the form late, your award - if you get one - will run from the date the DWP receive it rather than the date you asked for the form.

It's a tough decision whether to send it in partly completed and hope that they don't make a decision before you send the additional information or whether to miss out on the backdating.

If neither of these appeal and the reason you need help completing the form relates to your health condition, you could contact the DWP again and say you are asking for an extension as a reasonable adjustment under the Disability Discrimination Act - see our guide to 'Getting better treatment from the DWP' in the members area.
