IB50 confusion was created by The Jack
Hi Everyone,

I went for an IB medical in July 2010 and received 14 points for Mental Health so was deemed unfit for work. The Decision maker wrote to me stating this about six weeks after the medical and said a new review was due on or after 21/10/2010. It appears the DWP have given me about 3-4 months exemption. Three days ago i received
another IB50.

I have 2 questions hopefully someone can help me with. If i am found unfit for work is there a minimum time that i should be exempt from another IB50.

Also when i fill in the Ib50 and return it, if i was to go to a medical could i potential be transferred to ESA.

Best Regards

Hi Jack

I don't think there is a minimum length of time between assessments; it's purely at the DWP's discretion. Although 3 to 4 months does sound quite harsh.

If you filled in an IB50 you will be assessed under the PCA and therefore will be placed on IB should you pass the medical. You may then be given a review date of when you will be reassessed for ESA.

Good luck

Derek
