Hopefully you will be put in the support group quickly and smoothly and without any stress to you.

First, let me say how sorry I am for your news.
I am afraid there is mo option for an appeal, as no decision has been made regarding this new condition, and consequently, there is nothing to appeal.
Whilst you probably should let the DWP know about this additional condition, it may be too early for you take any specific action until you understand what treatment is being proposed.
You can read about the criteria, one or more of which you must meet, for the Support Group in the Understanding ESA, page 24 onwards, document in the Members area.
If you believe, based on the above criteria, you are now/will be eligible for the Support Group, then the basis of your claim will be a new condition. You can ask for a re-consideration or re-apply for ESA.
In either case you should seek face to face advice from the CAB or Welfare Rights as justifying entry to the Support Group is not easy. You also need to be aware, if you re-apply for ESA, that your existing grant could be re-considered.

Hi Rappa, I think this link would help you.
While ESA will affect many people living
with cancer, Macmillan has worked hard to
make sure key changes were made to the
benefit before it became law. Macmillan
persuaded the Government to automatically
place all people receiving chemotherapy
(except orally administered treatment) in the
support group category. This also applies
for anyone with a terminal diagnosis

Hi, I have been on esa "wrag" since oct 2010 back dated to oct 2008 , won appeal( back and arm operations,) I have today 04/01/11 been diagnosed with prostate cancer, i am booked in for "bone and mri scans" during the next 3weeks ,the treament if applicable will be operations and or radiotherapy, should I let the DWP know via phone or letter and would this bring me into the support group or do I appeal again? , your help would be much appreciated at this time, best wishes RAP.
sad news but so much has been learnt about prostate cancer in the last few years David dearnley and ross eels of cancer uk have done lots to bring on treatment they run a team at The Royal Marsden in London
after the tests your doctors will work out what to do which as you say could be an op and or chemo or radiotherapy also of course in many cases they do nothing they just watch and re scan depending on your bloods (tumor markers) to see how fast it grows
the urologists will work with the radiologists to try and sort you out
