I am on ESA (support group)I have just had this disability premium removed from my ESA payment as I have had my DLA turned down. I am going to tribunal (my DLA claim has been going on since April 2010
, however, because I no longer receive the DLA I'm not eligble to claim this premium. So my annual income from ESA is currently £5720 - that is £110 per week. I have been without DLA since April last year and now this additional premium has been axed. I just want to warn you all that this can happen and there is nothing you can do about it. How can a work related benefit be influenced by your DLA which is 'supposed' to be totally separate. This is a total joke. When they say the average income is £24,000 per annum - they obviously do not include the disabled who are unable to work in that calculation - what are we to do?

Hi there, I have recently been retired from work due to be permanently incapable of work. I rang the gov. office to see what I could claim for as I can no longer work and they won't tell me anything. No advice given other than we will send you the ESA forms, but said I will have to go to a medical. Why? I asked when I had to go through hoops to be finally retired by an independant doctor and 2 consultants. It really is a disgrace.
It seems to me they are discriminating against people who need it the most.

They're discriminating against people who they well know are too ill too fight back. That's politicians for you, politicians of all parties too.
