Couple of question re DLA claim was created by emmandelo
Hello everybody. I'm new to B&W and this is my first posting. I recently had the Atos medical for my ESA. Was actually done by a real doctor. He called me in from the waiting room and watched as I had to be helped up from chair (I have severe PVD)and struggled to walk the few yards to his room. After only a couple of minutes he asked me to wait outside while he phoned one of his colleagues. He then came out and said I could leave. A few days later I got the letter to say I had been put into the support group. i asked for a copy of the report and there was no mention of any points at all. All it says on the last page is 'The client was found to meet the support group criteria' Is this normal. I'm now inclined to put in a claim for DLA. Can anyone tell me if the DWP write to my doctor do they send her just a tickbox checklist or ask for a diagnoses or what?

Hi Emma if the dr at your medical feels you shoudl eb in the support group they must call another dr first and they decide together as such. I do not think you will get a points based medical report for it as he would nto have gone through the test / medical with you. This is what happened to me on my second ESA medical.

I will let soemone else and more knowledgeable answer about the DLA but the descriptors although different are I think similar.

Good luck.

  			 				Hi,

That is curious. An ESA85 should set out the grounds on which you meet the support group criteria.

If the DWP contact your GP they will send them a standard form which will ask for diagnoses as well as how your condition affects you.

Good luck,

Steve

Thanks John. That's cleared that point up. So if I submit that report with a DLA claim is it possible that they won't contact my doctor. I only ask because I have been offered a major operation that is full of risks and I have declined it. My doctor seems to think I am continuing to have problems because I won't have the op and seems to be losing her patience with me.
