Back to work Benefits was created by Lyn
Hi everyone - this is my 1st ever post,I'm more than a little frustrated, I had been on ESA for the past 12 months, and have a tribunal hearing for DLA next month that I will have to attend alone since my star witness unfortunately died in January of cancer; is there anyone i can get to help me on the day, my case papers have been prepared by a CAB lawyer, but because of government cut backs he won't be able to attend with me....I'm scared of being intimidated

Unfortunately, as you have already seen with the CAB, due to cuts and overwork, it is very difficult to get a representative to attend a Tribunal. Given the advanced state of yur case, I think it very unlikely that another organisation will pick up your case.
You can take someone with you as a companion, they can sit with you and hold your hand figuratively or literally if it will help.
If you believe they have testimony that will support your case, they could attend as a witness.
Be careful of using someone who is not experienced in Tribunal procedures and your case as a Representative, as a bad one is often a lot worse than not having one.

Thanks' Gordon, I fully understand what you are saying, I'm just so scared that I will be confused and end up shooting myself in the foot so to speak; I won't be having anyone speak for me, but I shall take someone to help me with traveling!

My Tribunal is next Tuesday, since I know I will forget things, is it ok to read answers to questions from a pre-written script of my own? i.e. how did you get here today?rather than just saying a friend drove me, I thought it best to elaberate a little, I don't want to mess up after waiting for nearly a year!
