Reconsiderations for ESA was created by injuredcyclist
Hi Again,
If you ask for a reconsideration (even though in all likelihood you will have to go on to an Appeal later) are you still required to attend WFI's?
Thanks.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

At the moment there is no mechanism to to automatically defer WFIs whilst a claimant appeals, however, that does not mean that they won't do so. If you are called, you can ask for it to be deferred, but it is up to the JCP (or the agency doing the WFI), as to whether it is granted.Hi Again,

Injuredcyclist,
It is far better to appeal on GL24. your claim will then be reconcidered, as a matter of course, maybe you have atually done this already.
If your appea is to be put into support group, you will not have to attend WFI's until your appeal process is finished.
While in the appeals process if it's from WRAG to Support, you will receive ESA at WRAG rate.
If successful in appeal or reconcideration in being put into support, you can not be compelled to attend WFI's
hope this helps

Most claimants do not get asked to a WFI while they appeal, however, some do.
Unfortunately ESA WFIs are mandatory and cannot be cancelled, just deferred.
