Does anyone know if this is true...or perhaps if what has been agreed is incorrect or perhaps..my friend has misunderstood the whole situation?
She is normally quite astute..but I also have seen nothing in the media or on other websites such BBC OUCH etc..Just didn't want to contradict her at my party

The ESA medical test (WCA), is a fundamental component of the ESA process, it could not be suspended without suspending ESA as a benefit.
They may be referring to the LCWRA medical which has been suspended since mid 2010 for a two year period. This was the medical for entry to the Support Group.

Finding it strange to not see anyhting on this in the Forums, but a friend of mine said she had been watching the Lords Debate..approx May 6th..and she told me over the weekend,(first time we had spoken since May 6th when she came to my 60th B'day celebrations).. that at the end of the debate, the gov't had suspended indefinitely, pending a full cost/benefit analysis of the whole atos medical assessments???

Surely they can put you in support group via the ESA medical.
Or have I missed something ??

When ESA was originally introduced, there were two medicals, the first, as is the case now, concerned itself with whether you were fit for work or not, the second was specifically concered with entry to the Support Group.Sorry for sounding dense but what is the difference between the ATOS medical for ESA and the WFHRA.

For a variety of reasons, not the least the additional admin and time involved in carrying out a second medical, it was suspended for two years from the middle of last year.
Given the system now in place and the additional workload resulting from the IB transfer, I think it unlikely that it will be re-introduced.
