DLA RENEWAL QUESTION

Hi

My husband recently sent back his DLA renewal form. Today he received a letter saying they had received his claim and that they will do any of the following if they don't have enough information:
Wrtie to doctor or someone else;
Arragne for a doctor to examine you;
Ask for more information;
I understand all of the above but then it also says:
May arrange for someone from you local Social Security office to come and see you.
What is the purpose of someone coming from a social security office to see you? Are they doctors and if not what exactly do they come to see you about? Has anyone had experience of this sort of visit? And do you have to agree to letting someone from the social security office come to your home?

No this wouldn't be a doctor as doctors are mentioned earlier in the list you have given.

I'm not even sure what a 'social security' office would be, it's not a term that is often used nowadays. I can only guess thta it would be someone to check the non-medical aspects of your claim, such as whether you were habitually resident in the UK.

I really wouldn't worry about thjis unless it actually happens, which is very unlikely.
