From decision to payment.....how long?

Tribunal members are part of the judiciary so they cannot strike. Most Tribunal Members work part-time on a fee basis for each day they sit on a Tribunal, so they don't receive a pension in respect of their Tribunal work, except for District & Regional Tribunal Judges who are employed by the Dept of Justice and paid an annual salary.

However, all Tribunals have to have a clerk to deal administrative matters related to the Tribunal and Clerks to the Tribunal are employed by the DWP and in most case are members of a trade union, so that will be the reason for the cancellation.

Also, arrears are paid by the DWP, the payment of which has nothing to do with the Tribunals Service.

You should get a new Tribunal date within a couple of weeks.

If you needed the money quickly you could apply to the social fund for a loan (interest free), and pay it back when you got your backdated money!

I think they are quicker these days in stopping payments because of the trouble in the past when people got paid too much and then owed money. you must be confident about back pay as you not have had the tribunal yet nice and positive thats the way to be

Thanks Dave.....I know, we have to stay positive but it can be so hard. Sometimes we just need to let off steam in order to get back on track. Consider my steam duely let off and my self well on track again. We all need this encouragement at times and I am so grateful to all the kindness and support everyone has shown me. Thank you all.

Good morning all, this is my first post. I won my ESA appeal on 26th April, over 9 weeks ago. I am still waiting for my payments to increase from assessment rate. I received a payment today 1st July, still at the old rate. The DWP have really given me the runaround, passing me from one ofice to another. I have been on ESA since January 2010.
Has anyone else had this length of delay. Can anyone advise me how to deal with this situation.
