Hi Jacqui,

Tribunals are independent of the DWP; all tribunal panel members are members of the judiciary appointed by the Dept of Justice.

Presumably, your appeal is for DLA and currently the success rate is around 55% for oral hearings, but drop to just 10% if the appellant requests a paper hearing.

Sadly the length of time that appellants have to wait for an appeal has risen sharply, mainly due to the number of claimants appealing adverse ESA claims.

Tribunals have wide powers on which evidence to accept and which to reject.
Most appeals are won not because of any real new evidence submitted on the day, but on what the appellant tells the Tribunal about their condition.

With DLA, the diagnosis of a particular illness(es) is secondary, the Tribunal bases it's decision on the level of mobility and/or care needs that your condition causes.

Good luck for 29 July.

Best wishes.

Jim
