I had my DLA appeal last week...thankfully I won....but 2 days after I have received a letter from the Jobcentre calling me in for an interview.
It seems that as soon as one problem is sorted there is something else to worry about. The interview is a meeting with an Adviser to discuss the help they can offer to return to work.
I know that you cannot give specific advice on a case, and I totally understand why...I was just wondering if anyone would like to give me their experiences of this type of interview? There is no possible way I could go back to work, I am now in a wheelchair that I cannot propel myself as it causes me too much pain. I require help with personal care throughout the day, I am in pain 24/7 and take some very strong pain meds. I cannot sit in a chair for more than a few minutes without being in a lot of pain and I have to spend most of my time laying down.
The most ridiculous thing is that I used to work for the DWP, actually in a Jobcentre for the last few years of my career. They dismissed me on medical grounds in 2009 because I just couldn't cope with work any longer. My medical condition worsens over time....but their dismissal report said there were no adjustments that can be made in the work place to enable me to work. Looks like now I am on the other side of the desk they have changed their minds.....in that case they can give me my job back
I wonder what they will throw at me next!

Hi Ratch
I don't know much, if anything, about DLA. But as DLA is not an out of work benefit, is the interview connected with your DLA or is it for another benefit?
I fully understand what you mean in your last paragraph. If everybody who was found fit for work by Atos applied for a job with Atos, and sent there Atos medical report with their CV to prove that they are fit for work, I think Atos would apply a completely different test for fitness for work.
Regards
Derek

Hi, Derek...
The interview is to do with my ESA. Sorry I didn't make that clear. I've been up all night in terrible pain and I am full of morphine....my brain is mush at the moment.

Has anyone had any experiences with a WFI in connection with their ESA?
I really am not in any fit state to be going on courses or looking for work, it's a physical impossibility....I was just wondering if anyone else in the same or similar boat could share with me how things went.
Thanks

I had a WFI when I first claimed ESA. I was in with the guy for 10-15mins. As soon as I walked in the door he introduced himself (although I can't remember his name now!) and he said "don't worry we're not going to force you to look for a job" He asked what my illness was (even though he had my form in front of him) He asked me what kind of flat/house I lived in, who I lived with, what I did in my last job and would I go back to it if my condition was managed. I didn't say yes or no. I said that my condition was already being managed. That was basically it and i've not heard from him again since (but he'd did say i'd have to attend another 5 of these interviews). It wasn't that bad really!
