I have Muscular Dystrophy and didn't realise that my condition would require the presence of a doctor. That explains why i saw one!

Does having a doctor conduct the WCA increase one's chances of scoring the necessary 15 points? That would be an interesting point to research.

GPs and RGNs are all very well but many of us know that our family doctor, doesn't know alot about our conditions.

I have Muscular Dystrophy and my own doctor (not a young man) had never met an MD patient before.

I found out from the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, that many doctors will likely only see one case in their whole career!

I passed my WCA but i know many others here have not been so lucky. We need specialists not "Health Care Professionals".

You may have had a doctor for the medical assessment, because of your medical condition.

Under the now defunct PCA for IB, muscular dystrophy would in all probabilities have placed a claimant into an exempt category because of the debilitating nature of the disease. Likewise, many other health conditions which would be classed as potentially severe, require the assessment to be carried out by a doctor.

The fact that a doctor carried out the assessment would not necessarily indicate that a claimant may or may not amass the required 15 points, but as I have said, it is entirely a procedural matter due to the extent of your medical condition.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

@Crazydiamond
I am surprised i have never been called in for another WCA, i am nearly two years on ESA. I am expecting to get that any time soon, along with an "invitation" to The Work Programme ;-)

I have attended many medicals and the HCP will always say I am Doctor X or Nurse X. I believe the term health care processional should not come in the same breath.It does seem that the most incompetent HCP are employed at ATOS.
