I suppose a lot will depend on where you go e.g. if you went to the red sea for therapeutic reasons might be okay, if you were seen paragliding off cliffs the DWP might take a dim view, or they might say how did you cope with the plane journey, but then, you coped by taking strong painkillers.

Thanks to everyone who replied.I guess "forewarned is forearmed" is the sensible thing here! Love the tip about contacting airline re extra legroom etc.The travel agent dealing with the win is going to handle this for me & all will be logged in emails that I can produce if needed.Plan on asking my GP`s advice too.He is very supportive & I`m sure he will say it`ll do me good! Will put all in a "diary" that I can show if needed.Still can`t believe that I`ve won,but what a boost. Thanks again

there are times when the travel agent cant deal with it they deal with the company flying you many airlines use handling companies to move people to the door of the plane so for example going to the USA with virgin via Gatwick you have a 50/50 chance the people you see in Virgin uniform work for Virgin or for a handling company
If you know who you are flying with then go to there web site and find the disability contact number that might be yet another third party company dealing with the issue on the companies behalf
this is why you sometimes see items in papers where someones been charged for air or a wheel chair move
if sorted in advance you get to the airport all the London airports and standstead have a desk you sit there then get a buggy ride to the gate and depending whats wrong you can "Fasttrak" through a special imigration and security gate to save hanging around once you have made contact with the airline they will call you sometimes a nurse or ot will call... and of course at the other end too some places have very long walks from plane to terminal and a buggy ride is nice
