just returned from an appeal for industrial disease claim and my claim went from 8% at medical to 20% on appeal all thanks to benefit and works and welfare rights people. thanks to you all. now there is a small problem of filling in the esa forms that have just landed. the questions look formidable!! i have spent 4 hours so far on filling in the form and am no were near finished. feel like just sending them back and wait for the inevitable medical.

Hi,

Well done on getting your increased IIDB.

If your ESA forms have only just arrived, don't forget you get circa 6 weeks to complete and return them by the date on the accompanying letter to the ESA50. So it maybe better to take a bit of time and the form may not appear so daunting. I know some who answer one question per day in order to break it down into more manageable bits.

There is help with claiming ESA in the members area here:

Dont forget to put on the ESA form that you have 20% IIDB for osteoarthritis of the knee/s as this will form part of your evididence for claiming ESA this proves you have a loss of faculty which is painful and resricted movements to your knees,if its both your knees you should put down Bilateral osteoarthritis to knees.

Dont forget that you dont score points now for bending and kneeling which you did previously.

Hi again can you tell me whether your award at appeal 8% to 20% was for life.

Just a thought that when you go for your ESA assessment the assessor will note how your osteoarthritis of the knees affects you and thier report might be used to look at the IIDB award again (be careful) make sure you inform them that it does affect your bending and kneeling ect even though it will not score you points for ESA.

Good luck.
