How long till the WFI start? was created by s.jmoore@blueyonder.co.uk
Justa follow up from my last thread as the last one got sort of hijacked.

I received my letter saying I'd been placed in the WRAG last week, so how long before the job centre interviews start? Anyone been through this and know?

Also my main problems are with chronic pelvic pain as well as chronic fatigue, so will they take that into consideration before demanding I go and do a 13 week typing course of something? Also would these courses be full time or once or twice a week as I don't believe my body could put up with such a regime. :(

Hi Just Me

I'm afraid it's anyone's guess when you will be contacted regarding the interviews.

Work-related activities are flexible and something that you negotiate with your advisor. They could potentially involve full time courses but I haven't heard of anybody who has had to do this; I think they are generally part-time or the odd session. You may even be able to have you interviews deferred if the advisor feels that you are not (yet) ready.

If you refuse a mandatory activity without good cause the component part of your ESA can be sanctioned (again, this is very rare), but this is appealable.

Regards

Derek

Hi,

Having a WFI doesn't necessarily mean you will have to attend a course. You must have the WFI's (which incidentally can be done by phone if the JobCentre Plus Office agree) but it is upto you to agree what follow up courses etc occur.

As to when the WFI's will start depeneds where you live and the availability of wfi slots at your local JobCenntre Plus. In some cases the first is after a couple of weeks, in some cases it is a couple of months.

Pete

Edit - sorry Derek, your post wasn't there when I started typing my reply.

Thanks for that. I read somewhere online that new ESA claimants normally get contacted about 8 weeks after starting their benefit. I wonder If that will be the same for those transferring?

I have to say I'm dreading this, as prolonged walking can throw me into a flare that can last several days. :(

Hi, mine is just one example;

Had first medical July 2010, failed, appealed, won and now filling out new ESA50.

I have not been contacted re WFI yet.

Best wishes,

Good grief! So how long ago did you win your appeal and how long was it before the new demand for a medical turned up?
