Good or Bad Idea? was created by RachelPotter
Hi, last time I had an ATOS assessment I barely said anything. This time I want to be able to describe my conditions and how they affect me.
Would it be a good or a bad idea to take a list in with me?
When I am stressed I can't always remember nouns and fail to finish sentences, so wondered if this would help.
However, would the HCP frown on me having a list?
Best wishes,
Racgel

As an alternative, and on the assumption that all of these problems will be listed in your ESA50, why not take a copy with you, and then you can say "if you refer to page x you can see that I am unable to do ...".
At least that way you can be sure they read the ESA50 as well

As long as you explain why you have a list, I can see no reason why it would be an issue.Hi, last time I had an ATOS assessment I barely said anything. This time I want to be able to describe my conditions and how they affect me.

Hi Gordon, taking a copy of my ESA50 sounds like a good idea.
Thankyou

Gordon, your advice turned out to be doubly helpful!!
I had been filling out my ESA50 by hand, a little at a time.
When you suggested taking a copy with me to the assessment, I started worrying about photocopying...
so now I am filling it in on the computer, so much easier...
and so, thankyou very, very much!
