Asking for Individual advice on claims. was created by Jim Allison BSc, Inst LE, MBIM; MA (Consumer Protection & Social Welfare Law)
Hi All,

Having resigned as a moderator several weeks ago due to ill-health and age, I later agreed with Steve Donnison, the site owner that I would be prepared to continue as a Honorary Moderator. This means that I will only answer queries on topics I'm very familiar with, and possibly expand on what our other moderators advise. e.g.. DLA & Appeals and matters which affect the running of the site in general.

The reason for my post today is firstly to thank all members who sent me their good wishes. Your comments made me feel quite humble.

However, the other reason for my post is due to the increasing number of posts we are receiving which are asking for individual advice as outlined in Forum FAQ

Some examples submitted recently include queries on benefits abroad. This is a very complex area of social security law which even qualified Benefits Advisers would find difficult to answer. Another, would include where members ask about benefits for specific disabilities or medical conditions, which moderators including myself would often find it difficult to answer.

Many new posts ask for advice which have been given often in the past, so I respectfully remind members to use the forum search facility before submitting an enquiry.

Thank you for cooperation, and finally I'd like to thank all members who are prepared to post and share your experiences with other members, it really does help to take the pressure of our dedicated and hard working moderators.

Best wishes to all.

Jim
