I am over 65, having first received AA for life and then without review DLA. Benefit received from about 1985.

I am absolutely stunned to receive a DLA claim form with covering letter saying DWP want to check I am receiving correct amount of benefit. I have been given 4 calendar weeks to get everything together- I have 3 weeks left.

Can't find any specific info on reviews on this site _ I guess its the same for re-applying for award after it has
run out. Except you get more notice.

I am particularly concerned about the section which requires you to put names and addresses of people who provide you with care. I employ people through Direct Payments and none of them wish to be included.I cannot force them to and totally agree with their reasons.Maybe I could put down a Local Authority contact? I just don't know.

Anyone got any thoughts on this? I have read advice for this excellent site, but what happens if your carers don't want to have to talk about me to the DWP? Its not in their contract that they might have to break confidentiality in this way.

You are not obliged to be receiving care in order to be entitled to the care element of either DLA or AA, you have to reasonably require the care.

If your carers do not wish to be involved, I cannot think of any objection to naming the Local Authority Direct Payments team. However, you could also attach statements from people who know you and see what care you get and/or what needs you have.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems
