This may be a very sill question, l have noticed everything has to be put in writing??? is that not going against the disability discrimination act? As their is talk of removing help for people would this be wrong if you had a person with a dignosis of a learning disability sorry if this in wrong place but worth saying

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Clearly those with learning disabilities are at a disadvantage, but we have seen to many errors from the DWP, not to advise this level of follow-up.

As frustrating as it is, there is a clear need to maintain an audit trail in writing of communications with the DWP call centres. We regularly hear of incorrect information being supplied and "decisions" that they are not authorised to make. This may be a very sill question, l have noticed everything has to be put in writing??? is that not going against the disability discrimination act? As a person with dyslexia l find this very difficult as l have to ask strangers to help with very personal infor and if the support is removed then this would cause a major problem, l agree with having to keep a record, but l feel this is wrong as most people in this country have literacy problems. could l make them place infor on tape or cd?

I haven't heard of anyone succeeding in getting the DWP to do this, but logically if this is what it takes for you to understand a decision or a question, then it is not unreasonable for you to ask for it to be transcribed.
On the other hand, it could be argued that if you can cope with a messageboard, you can cope with correspondance from the DWP, which leaves the very unpleasant situation that it is those that can find no way of asking for the help that need it most.
