Back payments

My apologies if this subjects been covered before(did look but couldnt find anything)-My E.s.a was up for renewal & medical questionaire was due back by end June(or i was told my benefit would be stopped)so sent it back on time.Ive only just got a decision due to various things.Ive been told ive been moved to support group due to my probs but only from end August.Can anyone advise me if this is normal or should i expect backdated payments to end June-for the difference in payments.I would have assumed if my benefits were going to be stopped then if form not completed this should be the case.I phoned & was told no that its taken from the date the desision maker deals with the case.??
