I saw my doctor last friday and discussed with him the fact that I wanted to ask for a supersession as my condition has worsened since september and I feel I should now qualify for the support group, I asked him for a letter confirming this and he said they should write to him. Hovever after a bit of persuading he has given me a letter but it's not very good - doesn't specify how or why my condition has worsened etc - will they write to my doctor or is it up to me to provide evidence?

He has refered me back to my specialist but it could be months before I even get an appt!!

Hi S,

You should write a letter informing the DWP that there is a "Change in circumstances" with respect to a deterioration in your health to such an extent that you feel that you now qualify for entry to the SG.

Then you should inlude details of how and why you feel that you now qualify for the SG, and send copies of any evidence that you may have.

You should expect to receive another ESA50, and you may have to attend a face to face assessment.

Again. if you do receive another ESA50, make sure you go into graphic detail, do not assume that they already know anything about you. Treat is as a totally new process.

You should review our : ESA Guides

And refer to the relevant section whilst filling in the ESA50 (if you get one). If you do get a new ESA50 you may wish to consider : Using The PDF Version Of The ESA50 Questionnaire

The DWP may also contact your G.P. in the form of an : ESA 113 Questionnaire .

The important issue is to show how and why you fulfill at least one of the SG Descriptors : Qualifying for the Support Group

Arrrggggh need help please

Was put on the 'assessment rate' while my appeal was ongoing, now I've won my appeal my pay should go back to the rate it was while I was on IB and I should receive back pay for the period from February until they reinstate my correct payments?

Is that correct? I was under the impression that if you were moved from IB to ESA you wouldn't actually lose any money, your pay would stay the same until the ESA rate caught up.

Bit concerned as finally had a letter today stating my what my payments will be - the same as what I was receiving on assessment rate! This is obviously less than what I was receiving on IB and there is no mention of backpay. Letter is a bit confusing as I'm on CB ESA in the WRAG but the letter also quote income related rates!

Yes S,

You should receive any backpay owed from the time of the adverse fit for work decision to when they start paying you the correct rate of ESA in The WRAG, as you will now be classed as having been in The WRAG since the date of the adverse fit for work decision.

Again, with Transitional Protection you should receive no less if successfully transferred to ESA, than you did before the transfer, see : What will I be paid?

The £71.00 is the main phase, (as well as assessment rate of ESA) if you are then placed into the WRAG you would receive the main phase payment of ESA, plus the WRA Component, if you are placed into the SG you would receive, the main phase payment, plus the SG Component.

If there is no mention of the WRA Component in your letter, you need to query this, see :
