ESA for me and JSA for my husband was created by Christine
My husband has recently been made redundant and was advised to claim JSA but the DWP in their infinite wisdom initially wanted to throw out my ESA (support group until December 2014) claim as a result and put me on JSA jointly with him which makes no sense financially and more importantly is crazy for me as I am disabled and completely unable to work or sign on every fortnight. My husband told them not to do that under any circumstances (we'll see if they take note) but now they're saying that it might be better for him to be added to my ESA which also makes no sense. Why can't they just leave him on JSA as an individual and me on ESA as is. Hopefully he'll be able to get a job shortly in which case changing my ESA status would be even more bonkers.

Has anybody had a similar experience/got any advice please?

I hope you will understand but you need to get face to face advice from a trained advisor who can sit down with you and calculate what you would be paid with each of the options so you can make an informed decision, something which we cannot do on the forum.

Where to get advice?
