Hi ROToole

I cannot say......here is the BenefitsandWork News item announcing the change:-

News
DWP to begin lengthening existing PIP awards from June
Published: 14 May 2026
The DWP is enacting legislation to allow it to extend the personal independence payment (PIP) awards of existing claimants, in order to cope with the growing backlog.

Thank you for advice, that’s great to know.
However does anyone know if you can do this in N.Ireland too please? I have a Government Gateway account. I was able to create a Gov One account and sign in, although I couldn’t see option of proof of PIP etc. Thanks, Marie.

I looked at registering on there to see if I had an extension as not heard from them,it says,"You must enter your government email address - we will only contact people with official government email addresses."
I dont work for the government so how does anyone view it here?
Do you work for the government?

Hi johngallz

That's strange. No we don't work for the government. No one else said that had happened to them.
