The time taken to clear an attendance allowance (AA) claim has trebled over the last five years, according to official figures released last week.

In answer to a written parliamentary question, the government revealed that the time taken to clear an AA claim has risen from 9.7 days in 2015/16 to 29.6 days in 2019/20.

The government have offered no explanation for why the time taken to deal with an AA claim has risen so rapidly.
