This is just another day at the office for the incompetent shambles that is the DWP.

Personally I would refuse to work for them.

Glad to hear they got your payment in the bank within the hour. Don't rely on the urgent callback. To them it just means more opportunity to mess another claimant around. In the old days they used to 'lose' your file. Now its electronic so they have mysterious crashes and can't get on the system. I believe they play around in the office just to amuse themselves.

Update.
Well I have spoken to the Decision maker who's name was on the decision letter I received, and it turns out She had no part in making the decision!

Apparently the fella ( She referred to He when talking about the person who had looked at My claim ) has made a number of mistakes!
He had for whatever reason, just ''pulled'' the decision letter for August off the system and sent that out!

She also confirmed that even with the end date of Oct 5th 2015, this again was a mistake and any supersession of the Mobility award should only come into effect on the day that the decision maker makes His determination, which was 4th December!

She also agreed that the process of following the process of descriptor selection did also appear to be flawed, ie Just Selecting the descriptor that the Atos HP had selected ( D) without going through the correct process of checking the evidence and checking if other higher scoring descriptors also apply for over 50% of the time, eg, Can not plan a journey, can not use public transport etc....

She listened carefully to all My concerns and said She would speak to the Decision Maker who made the decision today ( 17/12/15) and would call back before lunch time.

I now have visions of some Young Lad, straight out of school, doing a Christmas Holiday Job, much like the Post Office offer at Christmas due to extra loads and back logs, Who has not been trained to do His Job and is happily turning the Lives of people completley upside down, without a clue as to what He is doing!

I did get the Atos report this morning and The DL score was 29 and The Mobility was 4, The HP Quotes throughout, the difficulties that Autism causes and awards the descriptors based on the evidence provided Until We get to the part following and planning journeys, When suddenly it is Anxiety and He just need a prompt! Go Figure!

They have not sent out a correct decision letter as Yet as They have not spoke to the decision maker who sent out the rubbish I received.

I have asked for the Mobility to be reconsidered by someone Who can actually read and follow the guidelines set down by The DWP.

I have agreed to wait before sending in the letter for reconsideration, Until they have a chance to talk to Me today as it may be reconsidered immediatley due to the mistakes made already!

So Maybe I will have better News this afternoon!

Well!, The decision maker who I spoke to yesterday ( the one who made the August decision and who's name appeared on the decision sent 4th dec) Rang Me at 10am as promised!

She again apologised for the mistakes made, She said there seems to be anomalies on the system!

She has said that I should disregard the letter I had been sent and actually said it was Gobbledegook!

The decision Maker who is in charge of My Case will be going over the claim again today and taking into account My concerns/Queries Will be making sure All evidence is looked at By themselves and a Decision letter will be sent asap.

The DM I have been talking to said ''hopefully You may have a more favourable decision''

So at the moment I do not have a Decision, but should do in the next week or so!

I did receive the Atos report today and My Husband was awarded by the HP, The descriptors that add up to 29 points for DL. The entire report states Autism, Cognitive, Sequencing and Planning, Supervision, Support etc... until We get to the Mobility Following and planning journeys and then it changes to Anxiety and needs prompting 4 point descriptor!

We will wait and See!

That is f***ing dreadful. But not surprise.

On one hand I dont think half these assessors at Atos have the skillset or the knowledge to understand complex problems like autism. On the other, your husband's assessor clearly understood on some level but chose not to write stuff down properly.

At least the decision maker even said it was a lot of rubbish.

I'm sure it will be sorted out soon. I know that's not much comfort.

I hope you will write to your MP as well because this country needs to be rid of Atos and Capita. I've just written a second letter to my MP giving him an update on how unprofessional they are and how utterly incapable they appear to be at doing the job they are being paid for.

It would be a pleasant surprise to actually find someone in the office taking responsibility and taking to task the original decision maker.
We are facing a growing body of evidence that assessors and decision makers are not reading all the evidence submitted with claims. This is an outrage and gross dereliction of duty under the benefit regulations guaranteeing minimum standards of service, care and duty to claimants.
We must bring it to the publics and authorities notice, by contacting MPs, by bringing legal actions in the higher level tribunal if neccessary or to Europe if neccessary and by bringing it out into the open for scrutiny.
We look forward to the next installment.
