The pre-board check is done by Maximus, it is to decide whether an ESA50 needs to be issued or not, the most likely recommendation if they decide that a form is not required is for the Support Group, but a WRAG one could still be done. A claimant who does not require an ESA50 will have severe limitations either physically or mentally.

I would wait for the appointment letter, the interview will be carried out at your local JC+ office this will almost certainly be a different address from the office dealing with your claim. It may be possible to have the interview over the phone, but you would need to arrange this with the JC+ advisor when they contact you.

Thank you. So if you are a new claimant, am I right in saying that at the pre board check stage all Maximus would have to go on would be your fit note? Would they try to make a decision whether to not send out an ESA50 simply by looking at your fit note?

I think you should assume that you are going to receive an ESA50.

Well Gordon, a question to get your teeth into here, if you don't mind lol.
When I get my £37000 back from the buy-to-let, I badly want to use it to go towards a shared ownership home. However firstly the DWP may say I cannot use the money for buying a home, and secondly even if I am allowed to do so, I have to be on ESA in the support group to proceed with buying a shared ownership home. If the DWP allow me to put the £37000 into a shared ownership this will mean that whilst I am looking for a home I will be able to stay on ESA . They allow up to 6 months for you to find a home, I mean up to 6 months the £37000 will be disregarded as capital whilst it sits untouched waiting to use, allowing ESA to continue. But my problem is that I would not be able to proceed with the special shared ownership scheme until I was allocated the support group. By the time the ESA50 and medical will have been completed the 6 months could be up and I will have missed the chance of putting the £37000 into a shared ownership, and so I will have to stay in rental accommodation and live off the £37000 instead. Anyway this is why I am interested in getting into the early support group for ESA. I kept thinking that I may not be severe enough for this, but today I have received a copy of a referral letter from my psychiatrist to a specialist OCD professor which refers to me as being completely disabled and the worst case of OCD he has ever seen. I found this quite upsetting but then on a positive note suddenly thought maybe this letter could be used as evidence for early entry support group??? Do you think it could, and if it possibly could, where would I send it? And would I suggest it being used for early entry support group? And would I explain why early entry support group important (as in shared ownership opportunity)? Your thoughts appreciated

I'm sorry but I don't understand why you have to be in the SG to use the Shared Ownership scheme?

It is the conditions of the special scheme, you have to be on ESA in support group and also on PIP
