A quick update and a question.
My ESA payment went in as normal yesterday. I am flabbergasted, but relieved, for now.
I also received a very detailed email of apology from an operations manager at Royal Mail Courier Services after I made a formal complaint. In it, she accepts they got it wrong and describes exactly how/where they got it wrong. It has apparently resulted in internal staff retraining.
She also said the situation was further complicated by a systems failure, and that a new telephone system is now being installed (!).
My question is: would this email be accepted by Maximus/DWP to prevent my current payments being stopped before they complete the assessment process?
Thanks.

Hi Sm,
Yes, it may help to show good cause for the late return of your ESA50, if needed !

Quick question: I've heard nothing yet about my ESA reassessment. The deadline was 31 March, so still within a reasonable time frame, but just received a certificate of pay and taxable benefit dated 30 April. As I recall, these are bog standard, but I honestly don't remember getting one last year.
It is standard, right? My brain basically turns to jelly whenever I get a brown envelope.
Thanks

If you are receiving Contribution Based ESA then it usual for them to issue a P60 every year as it is needed for your tax reporting.
