I'm not sure why they would send it for an Income Related benefit as it is not liable to tax, maybe it's just easier for them to do everybody.

A brown envelope has just come through the door. As usual, my brain and legs have turned to jelly.
It's headed: Your claim for ESA/ a change in the ESA allowance rate payable... because of a decision on your capability for work. You have been placed in the Support Group.
I've had no medical and it gives no length for the award.
Now, I don't want to put the flags out prematurely, so a quick question please. Is this just a bog standard, very late uprating letter? I returned my reassessment at the beginning of April. Could this possible refer to my previous award?
Thanks.

I've looked through your previous posts and I can't see what ESA award you currently have, if you are currently in the WRAG, then a letter saying that you are in the Support Group would indicate that a Decision has been made in your favour, however if you are already in the SG then it could just be the annual letter.
I'm afraid that the only way you will know for certain is to contact the DWP and ask.

I'd thought that "a decision on your capability for work" referred to the reassessment, ditto "you have been placed in the Support Group."
Also, why would why would the amount be paid as of the 18 May??? Have other people had their uprating letters at long last? If so, I'd be interested to know when they were dated.
Not sure I can face calling them

I did say "could" not "is"

You need to contact the DWP, only they can tell you whether it is a Decision Letter or not.
