I sent in a data request to DWP at least 40 days ago. Has anybody else had any luck with their data request, or is this an obligation the DWP ignores?

The DWP have 40 calendar days from when they received the request to respond, if for any reason they are having problems dealing with then they have to write to you to tell you this.
Have you confirmed that they received your request?

I used their new online information request - it said I should receive a reply within a month - I got an acknowledgement letter dated 20 days after this to say they had received my request - but still waiting - so 55 days after request went in or 35 days after acknowledgement letter BUT still waiting ….

You need to contact the DWP for an update if they have not processed the request and cannot provide a reasonable date when they will then you can make a complaint to the ICO, just do an internet search for it.

I managed to speak to DWP yesterday morning and the adviser said that they have another team that handles data requests. He agreed about the timescale and put me on hold while he contacted this team. He then came back on and told me that I would get a call within 3 hours. Never did.

James
If they have still not contacted you this morning then call the DWP again.
