I just thought I'd add that my review was due in March 2020. Today, I received a letter saying it was extended until March 2022.

To say I was relieved is an understatement!

I hope this happens to you all......

Hi Mr,

Yes I'm really pleased about the extension. My PIP should have run out next June (the 20th) so a day before yours. Don't want to build your hopes up, but I would definitely give them a call.

As for extended award taking me over state pension age I've scoured the internet and can't find anything definite about ingoing awards, but it does look promising from what I've read.

I mentioned this on the phone call and the guy just said a case manager would look at this nearer the time.

Will just have to wait unless someone in a similar situation knows anything?

Hi phrank

If you have received an 'ongoing' award and there was not a specific date on your letter you can expect it to be at the ten-year mark.

It has been stated that those with ongoing conditions will receive a 'light touch review' when they are assessed once they reach SP age - however, no details have yet been published about what exactly that means.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for your reply. The extension letter does have an end date of the 20th of March 2022. I reach pension age in February 2022.

I'm a bit confused as to what might happen but does this mean another assessment then?

Regards,

Phrank.

Hi phrank

If everything goes back to normal by then I would have assumed that you would receive a review letter usually 6 months before your award ends. As you will not be of state pension age by then, I would assume that the decision would be the same as normal.

My understanding of the light touch review is that you have to be of pension credit age when you are assessed, but as stated earlier, no details have yet been published about what exactly that means.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for that. I suppose I was just hoping but deep down I thought that would be the case.

Mind you, that's IF things are back to normal and no-one knows when that will be.

Regards,

Phrank.
