pip ? was created by Colin
Hi, can someone help me with a question for pip.
filled pip award review in oct 2020.
dec 2020 pip awarded standard rate till dec 2023. nothing for mobility (only got 4 points move upto 200mts).
jan 2021 sent MR for mobility , activily 11 only, nothing else.
asked MP to intervine as heard nothing for 3 months. a couple weeks back.
got text from IAS this week telling me i have a telephone assesment end of month.
1,If they awarded till 2023 why would there an assesment now, is this some sort of mistake? or is this normal.?
2, and has it something to do with me asking the MP to get involved?
be most grateful for your help.
thanks.

Hi CCC
Unfortunately I can't answer your question with any sort of certainty. The DWP can review someone's case whenever they want. You can only find out by ringing and asking the DWP.

Hi ccc
As BIS has stated the only way of finding out is to contact the DWP and ask. There are some very nice people working for the DWP who are very helpful.

hello, can i ask here,
the DM asked their manager they cant decide on the stuff i sent them, (which they had asked for in original award letter). for the MR i asked for.
The manager couldn't decide so that's why they sent it for assessment they have told my MP.
But it is not stated whether its just for what i asked ,activity11 only, or everything.
The ? is, is this correct protocol/ rules for a MR.
Thanks.

Hello ccc,
I am assuming that you mean that you will have to face another assessment. It is an unusual practice, but it is not outside of the rules. A more usual thing is the DM rings you up with a few questions themselves. I don’t know why they are not doing that this time.
I think it is important as you prepare yourself for the second assessment that you realise that there is the potential for the assessment to once again cover all activities, not just the one you asked them reconsider. This is because, technically, a MR covers the entire award, not just one part of it. Now, I think it is unlikely that they will do this, but I would not wish to be caught unawares.
Please do come back to us if you have any more questions,
Catherine
