Replied by ThisGovernmentsGoneToFar on topic ESA Support group vs WRAG, or FFW keeping SDP.
Gary understand this will be the case, I just need another 2 years peace. I have a letter from the council confirming if I was just to live off my PIP and NOT claim UC as it will destroy me, they told me I can live on what is called a nil income.

2024 is what was rumoured, as you say may be later because of covid. Always keep my eyes out for the news letter.

I was formely known as (GoingOffMyHeadWithThisGovernment) Won PIP November 2017 ongoing award HR both. Now kept and got my ESA Support group but took a while.

Hi Gary,

What did you mean by>> you will then have to claim the Housing Element unless you live in an exempt accommodation.

Can you please elaborate what it means thanks.

And finally will ESA SG lose all legacy premiums when UC kicks in nationwide!

Hi mrfibrospondodysthmatic

What is exempt accommodation is outside the remit of this forum but I will try and briefly explain, you may find more informtion on Shelter web site.

If you live in supported accommodation and you receive care, support and supervision from your landlord, if the care, support and supervision you receive is more than 'minimal'.

A more formal definition of 'exempt accommodation' is as follows: "Exempt Accommodation is an individual dwelling for which a person is liable to make payments, that they occupy as their home and which is a resettlement place provided by persons to whom the Secretary of State has given assistance by way of a grant pursuant to section 30 of the Jobseeker's Act 1995 (grants for resettlement places), or provided by a non-metropolitan County Council, in England, a housing association, a registered charity or voluntary organisation where that body or person acting on its behalf also provides the claimant with care, support or supervision."

Answer to your second question, depends on your circumstances when you move on to UC.

A SDP transitional element will be added to UC for SDP claimants who move to UC, a process called 'managed migration', this can be quite a complex area so we advise that you seek help from a welfare rights organisation.
