It depends on whether they are acting as your repesentative (small r) or your Representative (big r) as the tribunal will expect certain things from the latter, which would not be expected of the former.Hi Derek,
Can your rep be a family member that is also a solicitor, but only representing you as a close family member rather than the later, or are they obliged to tell the tribunal of their proffession.
Chrissy V
Solicitors are trained in a variety of aspects of the law, but unless they specialise, are unlikely to have a good, or even any understanding of benefit law, a bad Repesentative can often be worse than having no representative.

I have a family member that has said they would come with me for support, but their proffession is a solicitor, but they could,nt act as a solicitor on my behalf, just as a supporting relative .
Thanks for your reply

Yes, a family member can act as a representative even if they are not a solicitor.
in these circumstances they are often referred to as McKenzies Friend
Good luck.

your comments re: representation taken on board....why is it so hard to find good representation, bit of post code lottery i reckon, with some areas having easier access than others, even worse if you have modest savings!!!!!!!!!!!!
