My husband is in receipt of IR (ESA). So if he does receive the carers premium does that mean he does not have to attend the WFI's. I have read it on here B & W, just would like to have it confimed.

As your husband is in receipt of income-related ESA he will have to attend work-focused interviews if required to do so? Receipt of the carer premium in itself does not provide an exemption for ESA claimants, or indeed for existing Income Support claimants who claim on the grounds of disability.

In your own situation, if you are a recipient of Carer's Allowance and do not receive any other social security benefits in your own right, you will not have to attend work-focused interviews or undertake work-related activity if you choose not to do so, although you can partake on a voluntary basis if you wish to take up this option?

See:-

Explanatory note - paragraph 4

and

Work focused interview changes.

I hope this clarifies the situation?

Sorry, should have added, unless you are receiving ESA, IB, JSA or IS you will not be called for WFIs.

Thanks Gordon
I spoke to the job center today and because my husband will not be assessed for another 2 years they said he would have to go the WFI's
but will not be asked to attend the work related activity.
does that make sense to you?

Yes because your husband is receiving the Carers Premium.

I'm sorry about the confusion last night, I unfortunately assumed that WFIs and Work Related Activity were intrinsically linked, and it was only after going back through the legislation, that I realised that they weren't.
