Don't worry, it can all seem daunting at first.

When you ring up tomorrow, the important issue is to find out which group of ESA you are in WRAG or SG, and how long this award should last before you are reassessed.

You should take into account that your first point of contact on the phone will be a DWP Call Responder in a Call Centre.

If you are having problems getting the information that you need, ask for an escalation to a Supervisor/Manager, this will involve a callback.

You should also request written confirmation of the ESA award, as you haven't had one.

Hi and Good afternoon ,
just a update : after 2x25mins wait to speak to someone at DWP , I can finally say what is happening .
I understand I am in the support Group ..and have been since 10/11/12 for 2 yrs . Apparently it did say on the screen I was still in migration?? and been paid IB , but I had been awarded ESA support group ? .
Any how I asked for conformation of this award in writing , which is now been done .
I also asked about my award and would it make a difference with my husband wage ? and apparently not ......which I am soo pleased about as I have worked for the past 33 yrs and always paid full stamp .
What more can I say to you all ..A REALLY BIG THANKYOU .... FOR ALL YOUR HELP ..

That is good news, thanks for returning to let us know.

If you have a 2 year prognosis on your SG award, starting from 10/11/12, you should expect to receive a new ESA50 for your next reassessment around the beginning of September 2014.

Yes, your husband's income will not affect your payment of CB ESA, as there is no 365 day limit to payment for as long as you remain in The SG. It's only if you are in The WRAG, in receipt of CB ESA.

Don't let them get away with not sending you a written decision notice, as you are entitled to this by law.

A quick indication whether or not you are still being paid IB, would be to check your Bank Account, it usually has IB and your NI Number as a payment ref.

With ESA it usually has ESA or EESA and your NI Number.

Don't be surprised if your payment day changes :

Benefit payment dates

Also, some members have had problems with their first couple of payments of ESA going into the bank when it should.

If this occurs, you would have to ring the DWP up again, on the same number.

It is usually sorted pretty quickly, once you get to speak to the right person.
