Reviews of existing PIP claims by the DWP have begun in earnest again, with 14,000 taking place in July according to the latest statistics from the DWP.

The figures for the most recent six months are:

  • Jan 46,420
  • Feb 39,270
  • Mar 26,040
  • Apr 170
  • May 270
  • Jun 240
  • Jul 14,050

So, although reviews are still only at around one third of the level they were immediately before the pandemic, numbers are still very much higher than they were from April through to May.

The figures suggest that the DWP is broadly happy with the results they are getting from the current paper-based and telephone assessment provisions and that number of reviews is likely to increase over time.
