How do these two stories square with each other? It sounds like a recipe for another meltdown in the system, unless the rate of reassessments for existing claimants is very gradual.

But they have brought the queue down from about 800,000 to only about 300,000 since March.

Thanks for that info Gordon…………I’ve been tossing a coin as to whether or not to commence preparation.

I had quietly been hoping like many others no doubt, that they might just still be deferring, looks like it’s time to go from neutral to overdrive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The pit of my stomach’s just hit the deck.

Sorry :(

How can they reduce it by that much if Maximus are having so much trouble recruiting enough assessors?

hi tt,

No idea, but they "say" that they have !!

The important issue is that DWP have now informed Welfare Rights Advice Agencies in a memo that they have started :

" to refer some people for repeat Work Capability Assessments from 1 December 2015."

As reiterated in this : Rightsnet thread and our associated News Story

Just "who" those "some people" may be is an unknown, so to pre-empt any members that may ask do we know "who" will be re-assessed, at this time, we simply don't know !

Presumably those areas that don't have large backlogs will start reassessments and those that do still have significant backlogs won't. Though as there's no way to know which areas still have backlogs, I suppose that means we're all still in the dark!
