Is a telephone call to ATOS ok or should I also put something in writing to ATOS please

You should certainly phone ATOS in the first instance so that you can explain the issue and get a response. You might want to follow this up with a letter outlining who you spoke to and what was said.

Hi, i phoned ATOS and got an understanding lady who said she would suggest a paper based assessment for me. She said about a home visit and that the mobility part of my claim would probably have to be face to face. I asked if there was a chance I could answer any questions via a telephone assessment, a telephone assessment was what my psychiatrist recommended in his supporting letter. Do you know if mobility is included in a claim whether there is any way they can or will assess me via paperwork and telephone?

The assessor will make a recommendation to DWP without seeing you if they believe they have enough information to do so. Therefore, your best chance is to explain your situation in detail, using language that reflects the descriptors, and to back this up with whatever supporting evidence you can.

I'm afraid I have never heard of an assessment being carried out over the phone.

Hi, I received a letter from ATOS today saying I can have a home visit and also three letters all saying they were writing to people involved in my care for supporting evidence. I know I should be grateful for the offer of a home visit but I don't feel I can cope with one. Firstly I am not able to talk face to face to anyone about my personal problems, secondly I have a contamination phobia and am terrified of the assessor bringing germs into my home. The lady on the phone said it is because of the mobility part of the claim that someone has to see me face to face. Can I say at this stage to forget the mobility part and maybe then they can do a paper based claim for the rest?
