Hi Julie,

Thank you for your kind words. I am pleased for you that your application has at last made some progress.

You can ask for your report 48 hours after they have made the assessment. In the case of telephone assessments that is easy, but for paper based ones you don't know when they are doing it. Similiarly for telephone assessments they generally send a text to the claimant saying that they have submitted the report to the DWP. I don't know if they do that for paper based assessments. Perhaps someone else knows???

What I would do in your situation is ask your daughter to ring Captia and ask if they have any idea of the time scale you are looking at. Then also ask if they send texts to let you know when the report has been submitted. If they do, that tells you when you can ask the DWP for a copy. If they don't then I cannot think of any alternative than to ring up the DWP about once a week to see if it has arrived.

Sorry not to be able to be of more help,
Catherine

Hi JB

Do not feel worthless, it is not your fault that you have been let down after bring yourself to make the call, do you have a family member/neighbour/friend who can sit with you whilst you try and contact them again. I know it must be very frustrating, you could ask your MP for help, some of them are very good.

Julie, please repeat after me, " I am NOT worthless, I am a lovely human being".
Be kind, make yourself a nice cuppa, and just remember this system was set up by politicians and money grubbers with an angle that ANYONE disabled/ill is undeserving. But every single person here knows the truth is different. Every one of us would have our health rather than the money, we did not choose to need to be needing pay-outs from social insurance. And many of us paid in ourselves for years anyway before needing to receive.
Hope you soon can put this unpleasant man behind you. You will see I often post for people calling up for assessment reports or other reasons, if you get refused etc, just politely end the call and try again. Doing so rescued our daughter from having a phone assessment, it was the second call handler who was the angel that sorted it.
Best wishes,
Denby

Julie, please read, read and reread denby's post above. if anyone is worthless it is the person you spoke to at the DWP who at the best was clearly having a bad day and could not bring to play the skills he needed to answer your call in a respectful way.

I feel bad that it was as a result of following my advice that you had such a bad experience. Most people who answer the phone at the DWP are really nice and helpful, I am so sorry that you had to speak to someone who was not.
