There do not appear to be any disability or incapacity benefit related provisions in the King's Speech.

The government can still introduce benefits legislation in the coming year that is not included in the speech, but the absence of any such content does suggest that it is not one of the main priorities for the first year of the current Labour administration.

    'Be alert too to the promise of “reviews” or “consultations”. Sometimes taking a good look at a problem before new laws is the logical thing to do – on other occasions, it is a way of placating those arguing for action when ministers aren’t quite ready'

    Taken from Laura Kuensbergs article on BBC news app today.   Let's hope our situation is one of these although it leaves us all in dreadful limbo it will hopefully gives supporting organisations etc time to rally in our defense (using the law and perhaps the threat of class action if necessary).

    It'll likely be some generalisation. Such as;
    "My government will help disabled people get a job."
    "My government believes PIP expenditure is unsustainable."
    and so on ......

      @phil In reality it's probably fair to say that no government has ever helped sick or disabled people, why should Labour be any different. Starmer's mantra is to help working people.

      @Pj They can't say a thing until the consultation ends on 22nd July. I think the appointment of Stephen Timms is very significant and in our favour.

      @Pj Any benefit decisions/plans will probably be put off until the budget.
