Hi PCM

I'm going out on a limb with this, but I suggest you start with the PIP Claim guide.

Good afternoon,

Thank you

I haver started reading the book and viewed the sample PIP just seen on the news .

We have an apt with one of the new 'permanent' GP's in our surgery for tomorrow. New to her and new for me.

I intend to ask her if she will do 2 letters.

1. A letter to ask for a home visit. I need it now or at least before the PIP2 arrives.

Do I need to get her to explain the reason why a home visit if preferential, i.e due to my poor mobility, wheelchair use only by a 3rd person rear control, cannot mobilise 20 mtrs etc?

2. A letter once I have received PIP2, by the GP in order to cover the descriptors needed and why , i.e wheelchair user 3rd party due to poor upper limb mobilisation, cannot mobilise 20 mtrs, wearing of pads provided by the Urinary tract nurse, reduced peripheral vision, CFS and the list goes on etc etc.

Or will one suffice?

All help will be greatly received.

Thank you

I think you should get two letters.

The one for a home visit needn't be long and detailed, just saying due to your conditions etc you wouldn't be safe making a trip to an assessment location..

The second letter would better being as detailed as you can get, dealing with the descriptors and your answers to them. If you are lucky and get a good GP you might be able to get an extended appointment and take the form in or all your notes so the GP can refer to them when writing the letter. Consultants letters detailing your conditions would be good too even if they don't go into the way they affect you etc. any carers you use should also be asked, same for any therapists you see like physio etc.

With the guide and new form on the website you could possibly start making notes on how you will answer the questions so you are ahead of the game when the form arrives. My advice is to cncentrate on the questions on how your disablities affect you and where you hope to score the points needed to get the result you think you deserve.

Many thanks.

First letter info ready for tomorrow for when we see the GP.

Once we get the PIP 2 and the date it is to be in by, our private OT apt will be made to visit us. She knows she will have to work with the descriptors/my disabilities and how it affects me as she specialises in Manual handling.
She saw us for my ESA in 2012 and knows this is very different.
We will also make another apt with our GP, and armed with my OT rough report and a pre rough copy of our PIP 2 we hopefully shall get a reasonable 2nd letter from the GP to accompany the attachments from consultants, previous letters, copy from Industrial Injury with my 50% and why and anything else relevant.
Would it be prudent to add a copy of the ESA file we sent and the prognosis received?

Thank you

If it were me I wouldn't raise the 2012 ESA claim at all, leave it to them.

Since this is for PIP anyway I wouldn't expct them to raise it at all, they probably won't even have a copy of the paperwork. You could have a look at the form you filled in and make sure you don't contradict anything you said then but don't send anything relating to ESA in your PIP claim.

I think I have heard or read something about using one WCA report to make a decision on the other so they might use the ESA report to award you PIP.
