Quick update.
I'm really unwell today.. I've barely been out of bed all day.
They keep sending me appointments for a telephone assessment every Thursday.
They keep calling to check I'm attendending.. Last week the lady I spoke to was good about it, said she'd cancel it for me and that unfortunately they would keep sending me new appointments and that there was nothing she could do.
This week the women that called to remind me of my appointment said she couldn't cancel it and was pushy and said they will cancel my claim. She said she could move the appointment forward until its time for a face to face but when I said 'yeah do that, it'll give my doctor the time to return the form' she said she can only push it back 2 weeks and they won't be doing face to face by then, that she can't cancel and I need to contact customer services.
They know my doctor is sending medical evidence of why I can't attend and have corresponded with my doctor.
I haven't even fed myself or had a drink today and after that phone call the last thing I want to do right now is call the DWP.
I've asked my sister but she doesn't want to.
I honestly feel like I have to take a further blow to my mental health or risk having my claim cancelled.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Sasha
I'm sorry that you're feeling so unwell. In the past you were only allowed to cancel one PIP appointment.
If you can I would contact your GP and see if they are willing to do a letter ASAP which says that a telephone interview would cause 'overwhelming psychological distress" and risk a deterioration in your mental health and ask if they will do a paper-based assessment. You could also contact your MP - some have been helpful.
I understand this may be too much for you, but you don't want to find yourself with no money.

Hiya thanks.
My doctor has received the form and I know she's in the middle of filling it out and preparing to send it with further medical evidence.
I'll give her a call in the morning because she only works Mondays and Thursdays.
I was under the impression because they know they are expecting the form from my doctor that they would stop sending appointments.
I wish I could talk to an mp to be honest but I've never done anything like that before and I'm to unwell and don't have support in talking to a new person. Hopefully in the future it might be an option.
Thanks, Sasha.

The Assessment Providers are not under any obligation to wait for the claimant or their medical contacts to provide evidence.
You need to be careful, the rules have not been enforced recently but they ae tightening up on them now.

Indeed they do not wait, in our daughter's case. They sent enquiry forms to the GP and 2 consultants, told me so on phone. But soon after sent a letter saying 'have looked at papers again and still need to do F2F' [this after I got them to cancel phone assessment as this proposal freaked her out] . When I checked with GP as it seemed rather quick, yes GPs had had the enquiry form and filled it, but not yet returned it. They added in the paid for letter I requested mentioning distress but unfortunately the word 'overwhelming' wasn't used...haven't heard anything for weeks now. So hoping and praying for a paper assessment with a good result. But not holding my breath.
