PIP ends in April, new claim rather than AR1 route

Had the assessment this afternoon and don't think it went too well unfortunately.

I was rushed all the way through it and interrupted repeatedly. I politely asked him to slow down a little and give me a bit more time to answer but was told he was very busy with other clients today too. Nearly half the assessment was simply going over my meds etc. (anyway detailed on the pip form) and reduced the time to discuss the questions he asked even further.

A family member was in the room with me "taking notes"... which might have involved recording the call as it was on loud speaker.

So yes, not great and after the call realised there are a couple of key points I just wasn't given the time to even bring up. Having been through the PIP process a few years back I'm not surprised but was hoping for a better experience this time in truth.

A quick question please. I've heard that you get a text message from the DWP once they have the report back from the HP (pa4)? Would that be correct?

Thanks again.

Hi Boomer

Sorry to hear about your plight. we do hear from the forum where claimants think that the assessment has gone horribly wrong to get an excellant result so you can never tell.

No you don't get a text message, wait 48 hours before contacting DWP and ask for a copy of the assessors report (PA4), some members have been informed that they have to wait for a decision before they can get a copy, this is not true for PIP although it is true for ESA/UC.

Let us know how you get on.

....and if you are told 'no' just end the call sweetly and call again, till one does promise to send you the PA4. If you are unhappy with it when it comes, you CAN write in to DWP ASAP to explain why it is wrong.
Good wishes, Denby

Thank you so much for the continued help and support.

I'll definitely get hold of the pa4 once they have it and notify them of any errors if necessary, asap.

Just a bit of info in case it's handy for anyone to know.

I did indeed get a text saying the HP's report had arrived at the DWP so it looks like that might be a new thing?

Ill call on Monday to get it forwarded to me.

Well, got my PA4 through today.

From my past Tribunal I had higher daily living, lower mobility. 15 points and 10 points respectively.

PA4 (provisionally I know) gives me lower daily living (gives me 8 points) and no mobility (4 points)

Not fully read the PA4 as having a bit of a panic since opening letter.

May I ask? How long have I got if I wish to add additional info for the decision maker to read before he makes his decision? I know I can wait and do the mandatory reconsideration/ tribunal process of course, though Denby (thank you!) hinted at the fact I might be able to provide additional info to him/her before the initial decision is even mate?

Secondly, I can't add any further medical evidence as such as that was already provided, I can merely point out where I was either not given time to explain a problem or where the HP's interpretation of a descriptor is clearly different to mine and the Tribunals.

The DWP received the assessment from the HP about a week ago.

Thanks as always.

(Not sure if posting exact descriptor scores etc on here is a good idea? That's partly based on me suffering from paranoia etc)
