Hi Boomer

They will not call you to discuss their reason for their decision.

You can phone DWP up and apply for a MR over the phone, if you have extra support docs you can send them in to support your MR or you can put it in writing or complete their MR form called CRMR1: www.gov.uk/mandatory-reconsideration

Hello Boomer,

I was speaking to a very helpful lady on the PIP helpline last week who told me that they had been notified on the 10th May that there was a 4 week backlog getting post into the Wolverhampton Office. It is possible that your letter may be sitting somewhere in that pile.

Hello all.

Just a small progress report.

So I went down the MR route in early June using the Benefits and Work guide and got a call from the DWP out of the blue today.

It was slightly odd to be honest. Very briefly asked if I had any more medical evidence to forward which I do not then went on to detail the need for me to appeal to the tribunal "quickly" if I didn't agree with his decision. Then went on to add that he hasn't yet made his decision yet of course...

I know it's very easy to read negative elements into every syllable that you hear from a DWP rep however I can't but help think it was a none to subtle hint that the original HP's assessment is going to be upheld.

Anyway, he said I should receive a letter with the MR decision next week all going well. We shall see but I'm already steeling myself for a tribunal appeal. For the second time I've been on pip.

Are tribunals being held face to face again at this point if so requested by myself?

Thank you.

Hi Boomer

You have one month from the decision date on the letter to appeal a decision.

Tribunals are not yet held face 2 face for the majority of claimants, although for some claimants who cannot do telephone hearings, they have started some face 2 face hearings.

One month from the MR decision letter I take it?

I was hoping for a face to face tribunal as it's much easier for the panel to see some of the issues I have, however, it's understandable that this might not be possible given the pandemic.
Thanks for the info as always.

Yes Boomer, one month from the date on the MR letter. If you go a little over that time limit, it is still worth appealing, but the courts and tribunal service have to accept your reason for appealing being late as valid.
