PIP ends in April, new claim rather than AR1 route

Hi Boomer

Address it to the decision-maker on the inside and outside of the letter. Generic title is fine - no one ever has the name.

No need to put the pip reference on the envelope.

Most odd.

Just noticed I've had a payment of just over £300 go into my account from PIP.

The amount os not the amount of used to be, a fair amount less but most interesting is that I don't have a new award at the moment to my knowledge.

Indeed, as far as in aware, the PA 4 has yet to even be seen by the DM?

I'll attempt to call them at some point but wondered if anyone has any ideas? I certainly won't touch the money in case its been sent in error.

Thank you.

HI Boomer,

Sorry, but the only way to be sure what the money is, is to ring the PIP helpline.

Hello again.

Just got off the phone to the DWP. The payment is due to being given the standard daily living award though I've not got the official letter yet.

That's caused a bit of an issue now as the letter I sent off to the DM with clarification of some of the things raised in the PA4 has STILL NOT arrived at the DWP though I posted it next day delivery... A week ago.

So my attempt to remedy some of the things mentioned in the PA4 before the decision was made hasn't worked out.

Now, eventually the DWP will (probably) get the letter but in it i mentioned that it is not a request for a MR. I expect that will confuse them a little, though the letter date will show it predates the decision being made.

Anyway, I now intend to wait till my award letter arrives and ask for a MR and send that same letter again, amended for MR purposes.

Will the eventual delivery of the first letter cause me any issues in likelihood? Will it preclude me asking for the MR?

Sorry, I hope the above makes sense and thanks as always?

Apologies for updating the thread rather speedily. The DWP are moving faster than I expected to be honest!

The decision letter also turned up today...

It is very much a direct copy/ paste of the PA4 which is entirely to be expected of course.

On a positive though, it does mean that my "lost in the post" letter directly relates to the DM's reasons (as he/she quotes the PA4 extensively...) for giving the lower award so it can be readily adapted into a format for the MR.

1) Am I correct in understanding that initially, if I notify them I disagree with the award, they will simply call me to explain the decision to me?

2) Secondly, if I still disagree with their decision I can then forward my points in a letter to them (I'll adapt the "lost" letter) as part of the MR process?

I shall read and re-read the guidance on the site regarding this again tomorrow but the points above aren't quite clear to me I'm afraid. Thank you for the clarification.

( I'm aware there is a risk in going along the MR/ appeal process, as in losing my award but on balance I am going to fight this.)

Thanks as always, it's hugely appreciated.

Hi Boomer

Your letter will not stop you from requesting a MR, have you checked with Royal Mail as to when they delivered the letter, if it was before a decision was made then I would lodge a complaint.
