PIP ends in April, new claim rather than AR1 route

Hello all and I hope everyone is as safe and as well as they can be in these unusual times.

This site was instrumental in helping me win an appeal at a tribunal 4 years ago.
I had an idea the tribunals suggested PIP award term was ending this year and I was correct. The dreaded brown envelope arrived yesterday.

The letter states, "Your claim is ending - If you still need PIP we can help you continue to claim" etc etc.

I called the number on the letter and was told I need to make a new claim, no mention of it being a review?

Does this mean I will need to go right through the whole PIP2 form route again, rather than the AR1 form/ route?

My health condition is little changed so was hoping that the AR1 route would apply?

I only came onto the forum to read about the AR1 form after I made the call unfortunately so didn't categorically ask the person I talked to. They definitely used a phrase along the lives of "you just make a new claim now" however.

As always,

Huge thanks for any info offered.

Hi Boomer

Unfortunately, when a claimant has gone through a tribunal, and their claim comes up for renewal - it is normally done as a new claim - so yes, you're starting from scratch. Hopefully, you have a copy of your original stuff, so it shouldn't be as arduous. (I admit it's not great!)

Hello and thank you for your reply.

Most odd that after a tribunal things start from scratch, almost seems a little punitive but no point worrying over things that can't be changed. The DWP definitely comes into that category.

I took pictures on my mobile of all the original paperwork (faster than scanning) and it's stored in a Google album thank goodness. I'll refer to that to fill in the new PIP form when it arrives.

Thanks once more for the help.

Apologies, I forgot to ask.

Are PIP assessments all done over the phone these days or are some video calls instead?

Thanks once again.

Hi Boomer

No, not all PIP assessments are done over the phone. On rare occasions they can be done as paper assessments.

I am not aware of any video assessments at this moment in time.
