I telephoned today - couldn't understand all the options on the recorded bit (nearly had me in tears) but I held on the line for 30 minutes and was told yes they are sending forms out up to 11/12 months early. I did ask for an extension and have an additional 2 weeks so now due in 27/11
Thanks again for your replies

Hi stefaniel2001

Glad to hear you got the extension you needed.

Very stressed (although thankfully further on with my forms than I expected be)
I telephoned on 30/09 to request the extension - as per above - and it was granted to 27/10 - I did make a note of the date/time/person - I just recevied a letter dated 02/10 which still gives the original date 13/10
I am therefore going to be spending the weekend getting everything else together and post it recorded on Monday - I know I could phone again to push the extension but I get anxious just at the thought of phoning - I also have my urgent colonoscopy on Tuesday so now I just want this out the way so I can concentrate on that.
But my main thing is I wonder how many people this happens to and how it could affect their claims?

Hi Stefaniel2001

It's disappointing when this happens. I suspect you have still got the extension, but someone has forgotten to remove the date of the previous deadline, and it's automatically produced a letter. If you have the time to get it off - send it. Good luck on Tuesday.

Hi. I would get a print out your GP notes from this (last?) week which mention the referral etc.
In fact, get all your GP notes so that you can follow the progress of your conditions. Go through them with a highlighter pen and then copy and forward the most pertinent. (They will not use a colour scanner at the DWP, so ensure the bits are **highlighted** in other ways).

PIP is supposed to be awarded on FUNCTIONALITY so the fact you are having ‘issues’ SHOULD be apparent. If you know things further down the line you can update them….. the period viewed is supposed to be 3 months before and 6 months after you application…
Good luck x
