Replied by Bax on topic Invitation to claim PIP from DLA.
Managed to get a printer sorted.
Having done some research over the weekend however I have decided not to make the phone call to start the PIP 1 process tomorrow/ Monday, need more time to get my head round things.
DWP, state they are interested in evidence dating back a max of 2 years for PIP.
She was under 2 consultants in 2013 who contributed to her ESA information but has not been back to see either after her years open appointment had elapsed after retinal surgery.
She was referred to Specsavers thereafter.
My wife`s eyesight has been relatively stable since her ESA claim in 2013.
Her latest annual eye examination took place this month where her field of vision & close reading were similar to last years though her visual acuity had deteriorated slightly.
Now apart from the opticians eye prescription over the required 2 year period, there is not a lot more I can add about her conditions etc without going back further into her medical history.
Its a bit of a contradiction that on one hand they ask folks to supply as much evidence as possible then put a max 2 year on history.
Any advice welcome in this regard.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

It's entirely up to you what evidence you send.
The Decision Maker and the assessor will not place great weigh on evidence that is older than two years unless you can show that it is still applicable.

Thanks for the reply Gordon.
Looking to access my wife's past 3 years medical records at some point during the week.
We have evidence previous to 2013 available.
Will try to make sure Atos are aware of her current situation.
Whilst doing some research earlier
DWP guidelines re- the visually impaired.
Not able to read 16 point print.
What is the comfortable reading distance for 16 point print in 2016? cannot find anything relevant online.
In 2013 the comfortable reading distance for 16 point print was 14 inches with DWP.

I've had a look at the DWP guidance and there is no reference to text size or reading distance so it is down to you to make an argument that your wife's ability is restricted.
There would be two examples that you might want to consider, reading a newspaper or book and reading at close range and a fire exit sign at distance.

Hi Gordon,
Thanks,
Found this online this morning from 07 / 2014 have edited it down to the question at hand.
.........................................................................
Memo DMG 7/14
ESA: SENSORY IMPAIRMENT ACTIVITIES
ACTIVITY 7
6 DMs are reminded that Activity 7 may apply where the claimant has difficulties
understanding communication by
1. verbal means alone or
2. non–verbal means alone or
3. a combination of verbal and non–verbal means.
7 For example, a claimant who is
1. blind or partially sighted and
2. unable to read 16 point print or Braille and
3. able to hear
is likely to satisfy Sch 2 Activity 7(a) and Sch 3 Activity 7, and to be found to have
LCW and LCWRA. This is because, even though they can understand a simple
message by verbal means, they cannot understand by non–verbal means.
8 Similarly, a claimant who cannot hear due to sensory impairment, and cannot
understand a simple verbal message by verbal means such as lip reading, will be
likely to satisfy Sch 2 Activity 7(a) and Sch 3 Activity 7, even though they are able to
read.
....................................................................................
Bit outdated for our needs, is ESA related & still does not stipulate a comfortable reading distance.

But it's a claim for PIP and the guidance is for ESA so it doesn't apply! The ESA Reading descriptor has very different wording from the PIP one.
